Ambition #1
We invest in sustainable innovation and development

We continue to invest energy, time and money in modern production methods, innovative raw materials, greener energy use and cooperation with education, suppliers and producers in the Netherlands. This way, we keep our environmental impact 100% transparent, our production is verifiably less harmful and we do our bit for society.

CO₂ -performance ladder

The CO₂ performance ladder is one of the ways to visualise our sustainable ambitions. So that is what we are doing. The CO₂ performance ladder is an initiative of the Stichting Klimaatvriendelijk Aanbesteden en Ondernemen (Dutch Foundation for Climate Friendly Procurement and Business) and helps organisations and governments to map out and reduce their CO₂ emissions. We are extremly proud of the fact that since October 2023 we have been on the highest level, at level 5. Of course, we will do everything we can to maintain this position and continue to invest in sustainable solutions.

Regular reporting is part of the CO₂ performance ladder and covers issues such as the carbon footprint, CO₂ targets, progress on reduction measures and initiatives to further reduce CO₂ emissions.

Our targets

Reduce CO₂ emissions from the use of company cars by 30 % before 2023 and 5 % in 2025.
Reduce CO₂ emissions from our waste by 60 % by 2023, aiming for a 40 % reduction by 2025.
Reduce CO₂ emissions by boosting the sales of Circuboard by at least 5 % annually till 2030

Our initiatives

Our factory in Emmen will no longer be heated by natural gas, but by a heat pump.
Together with a.o. Pfleiderer and PreZero, we are developed the most sustainable and circular table top ever: Circuboard.
For enamelling – the hardening of lacquers and coatings in an oven – we generate our own hydrogen in Emmen.
The new muffle in Hoogeveen is an A-oven, which is the most sustainable of its kind. The heating of this oven can be done partly with solar energy.
The new building at our Hoogeveen location is constructed in the most sustainable way possible. This includes heat and cold storage and solar panels.
We install 5.500 solar panels on the roof of our plant in Emmen, which means that 2/3 of the energy we use comes from solar power.
Since 2017, we have been a partner of Plastic Whale and we are fishing plastic waste from Amsterdam’s canals with our own sloop. From this waste we make state-of-the-art circular office furniture.

Performance review

We are extremely proud of the fact that our CO2 emissions in 2024 are now almost 50% lower than they were in 2020, the year we started measuring our CO2 emissions.

Ambition #2
We strive for a completely zero-waste business operation

Naturally, we use only 100% recyclable materials from the region and reuse all of our residual materials in various innovative ways. And our refurbished furniture? It’s almost indistinguishable from new.

We’ve been monitoring our residual waste streams for years, and although the vast majority has been converted into new raw materials and green energy, a portion was still classified as “waste.”
Until 2018. Since then, our Hoogeveen location has been zero-waste. Emmen will hopefully follow soon.

Ambition #3
Fully transparent supply chain management in terms of labor conditions, raw material usage, and environmental impact

We already work primarily with sustainable materials sourced locally. We use wood waste to press tabletops and leftover steel to create accessories. We treat the planet with care and place a strong focus on people. Health, vitality, and well-being are top priorities for us.
